Premiered 42 years after its composition, this lively and vigorous trio is written in three movements, in which frequent turns from jazz, fox trot or Charleston can be found. Despite his studies with composers of a neo-romantic bent, the spirit and structure of this work are more indebted to the brazen self-confidence of the group of six, or perhaps even to the cabaret music of his formative years in Berlin.
